John Salozzo Fine Art
Creating fine art allows me the freedom to paint what interests me. I like to paint within series such as St. Louis Icons, Music or Toys to name a few. See more below. I am often asked why my painting seem to pop. Its from my commercial art days, making my artwork reproduce as best as possible. I use both traditional brushes and airbrushes to produce my art. In addition, I paint with acrylic paint as it drys quickly, is very stable and is fade resistant.
There are many categories and labels art writers and critics give to explain styles of art, such as realism, hyper-realism, photo-realism and the like. I like to call my style elegant realism. Although my work is sometimes confused with photographs, they are not. I do use photos as a reference because it saves time and allows me to get the composition I want without endless drawing- but I do draw the final images.
